The Paradox of Choice
Today I had a nice discussion and preparatory meeting for a number of sessions about sustainability, radical transparency and consumer behavior I will organize together with students of The Hague University. This evening I’m collecting info and doing some research on consumer behavior, choice and persuasion. I stumbled upon this great presentation of Barry Schwartz during the TED 2005 in Oxford.
Barry Schwartz is a sociology professor at Swarthmore and author of The Paradox of Choice. In this talk, he persuasively explains how and why the abundance of choice in modern society is actually making us miserable. Hilarious and very interesting.
