How the “world” works. Modern-Day American Imperialism: Middle East and Beyond.
I’m a big fan of Noam Chomsky. If you really want to get a clearer picture how the world of politics and in specific US foreign policy works check out this lecture. It’s about 1 hour and the rest are questions. Instead of watching some bad TV or surf distracting sites take this time it is worth it.
In this lecture Noam Chomsky, an emeritus professor of linguistics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a well-known political activist critical of U.S. foreign policy, traces modern-day American imperialism to its earliest roots, 25 years before the American Revolution, and he explains how the United States has lived up to its reputation as “the most frightening and dangerous country in the world.”
You can skip the introduction and go straight to 07:40. The clip is is hosted on the BUNIVERSE which is a searchable video archive of lectures of the university of Boston. A fantastic educational site worth taking a look at.
