1-bit Symphony

| June 16th, 2010

Today I learned about an artist named Tristan Perich. He has created a new project called 1-bit symphony. This is an album of music but without a CD. It includes a CD jewel case, 1 battery and a microchip preprogrammed with the compositions. Plug in your headphones, switch it on and there you have it. The cool thing of this concept is that you are actually listen to the music created, just like a live performance. Apart from its technical form I think it is also very interesting to explore sound and music in this minimal form. I ordered the artist edition which includes the 1-bit Symphony bit also a poster and more important the source code burned into the chip. Check out the clip below to listen and see Tristan explain it himself. More information about buying this piece of art can be found on the website: http://1bitsymphony.com
