The Visual Miscellaneum: A Colorful Guide to the World’s Most Consequential Trivia
| December 5th, 2009This is really inspiring. If you’re a reader of Wired you may recognize this very artistic, appealing an clear way of visualizing information. I do not know if the author, David mcCandless is in anyway related to Wired but his work is fantastic! He has more interesting projects and books on his blog. He even launched a separate site http://www.informationisbeautiful.net where he makes visualizations of data related to the current news topics such as the H1N1 flu, the war in Afghanistan and other topics.
His newest book contains a wealth of trivia all presented fresh & clear. I’ve ordered the book on Amazon, $15.78 is a steal. Here is a preview of what you can expect. Especially the Billion-Dollar-O-Gram gives a “good” perspective on the spending, earning, giving and fighting on a global scale. e.g est. cost to US government financial crisis: 7800 billion dollars, Africa’s entire debt to the world, 200 billion dollar, world-wide spending in advertisement 385 billion dollar,Google’s value 175 billion dollar, save the amazon rain forest, 21 billion dollar, Yoga industry 18 billion dollar…
it’s all relative, right?
